Appearance: 5'3", red hair, slim build, left handed, will absolutely hate wearing orange (and may get creative with her prison clothes, chemistry and sharp objects). image
Personality: Lydia is very smart, charming, and likes to be underestimated and then prove the people that underestimated her wrong. At the start of the game she's likely to have reverted to her early-season pretense of being stupid to people who don't already know her; she's basically been kidnapped into an environment where she doesn't know the people, knows that at least some are criminals, and knows that something is wrong. But it's a mask and persona that will feel to her like a snake trying to crawl back into an old, shed skin.
Underneath the apparently vapid clotheshorse (who, even when she lived that persona, managed to be a high school queen bee and valedictorian while doing things like teaching herself classical Latin because she was bored) is a fiercely loyal and tough as nails character. Not that she wanted to become tough as nails, but she's been through hell including spending months under mind control, and being conscious while being trepanned by a mad scientist.
Lydia has always been sex positive and a flirt. Kink wise she's a switch who sometimes tops from the bottom. She likes her partners athletic and both physically and mentally tough enough to have had a good chance of survival in her home town - and she also knows that this frequently goes with those people being utter jerks and normally jerks with a body count.
What did they do to end up here?: Numerous things. She's killed several people, most notably one of the Dread Doctors and one of the Wild Hunt - the latter of which counts as a crime against nature (a good lawyer would get her off on self defence and most of the other charges but she doesn't have one or the right to see the charges against her). Also multiple counts of conspiracy to commit murder starting with Peter Hale (who was the S1 villain). Crimes against nature including the resurrection of Peter Hale, the killing of one of the Wild Hunt, and alteration of causality. Various counts of assault including poisoning. Breaking and entering and multiple counts of property damage. Oh, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Powers / Abilities: Lydia is a banshee and this comes two major powers.
Her first power is that of her scream. This in canon basically has three aspects:
- A banshee is an omen of death and she will scream when someone is about to die. The future isn't fixed and she will know who is about to die if things continue as they are. This doesn't always mean a rescue is possible.
- Her scream can be used to dampen distractions, enabling her to use her other abilities more effectively.
- Her scream can be used as a weapon, either as ear-damaging to its targets or even as a cone of force that throws people backwards or damages walls - and can destroy hostile ghosts
(For all her scream can be a powerful offensive weapon she's very much a glass canon with almost no defensive abilities beyond a normal human and the combat skills of a veteran of a very dangerous environment who learns exceptionally fast but not those of a primary fighter. Being used to the company of werewolves she also significantly underestimates her own fighting skill).
Her other power is best described as "death-focused psychic powers" normally expressed through hearing. Her actual hearing is peak human (and sensitive) but not supernatural. On the other hand she can hear ghosts as voices on the edge of her hearing - and she can hear the sounds from where people are in danger of death (which can take some figuring out; a cannon example is hearing a buzzing all day and realising that that was from the electrical substation a friend was being held in). She can also use psychometry (object reading), sound-divination, and automatic writing on events connected at least vaguely to death. Technically she's also a telepath but only with other banshees or people who are either omens of death or telepaths themselves; looking at the current characters this might include Dinah Lance (who might count as a weird banshee) and Persephone.
Being someone with a connection to death and who is used to working out obscure clues about deaths Lydia will probably figure out that something is going on with the planet fairly fast.
Inventory:
1: Her makeup kit. Note that she has weaponised some of it although whether she gets the parts she's weaponised back is optional.
2: Rechargeable earbuds. Lydia both has peak human mundane hearing and supernatural hearing, and often listens to music to drown out what she hears in the way many people with tinnitus do. (They of course either need to work with the tablets or come with her phone).
3: Assuming she can't fill the rest of her footlocker with clothes and shoes then a sketchpad and pencils.
